56K.Cloud Update: Brian is Stepping Down
It's incredible to think that 56K.Cloud is celebrating its third birthday. Three years ago, Darragh and I boarded a train from Zurich, Switzerland direction of Austria for our first customer project as 56K.Cloud. This trip marked our first customer project. We were still finalizing the company registration, setting up accounting, and generally just getting setup, but that didn't stop us from boarding the train and getting started.
In late 2017 the Austrian project kicked off our journey as 56K. We started appearing everywhere and started presenting 56K at Meetups, conferences, giving free Docker courses, lecturing at universities, hosting Summits in the mountains, and everywhere in between. Darragh and I were traveling quite a bit at the beginning attending and presenting at three DockerCons. We even had the chance to co-present our IoT story, which was so popular we repeated the session.
56K is not just Darragh and I but the entire team. (Jochen, Dan, Marcel and the former; Julien, Jacky and Patrick) I am incredibly fortunate and grateful to have worked with such a fantastic team. The 56K team is just awesome, and I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together. Additionally, we established key partnerships with Amazic, ARM, AWS, Docker, Exoscale, GitLab, GruntWork, Mirantis, Swisscom, and more, which helped cement 56K as a prominent Full Solutions Provider.
What's next for Brian?
Twenty years ago, I started my tech journey with the casino industry in Las Vegas. My bio still references this adventure as "Brian's spent a large portion of his career in the casino industry where he made sure the house always won." The casino industry has always been a part of my professional life; even with 56K, we had some projects with Casino Systems manufacturers.
OK, enough, tell us already. So what's next, Brian? I accepted a position to lead an online casino and go back to my roots. I am incredibly excited to combine the skills as co-founder 56K, cloud/tech with my casino background.

What does the news mean for 56K? I am stepping down as Co-Founder, and Darragh will take over the helm as the newly formed CEO position. Darragh has a brilliant strategy in place to propel 56K into 2021 and beyond. I'm excited about the direction of 56K, and that said, I will remain an advisor to 56K for the future.
For our customers, the 56K team has been working behind the scenes to ensure a seamless transition. We will continue business as usual, and our incredible team will be happy to work with you on your next project.
